Young Adult

From the makers of Juno comes the dark comedy about Mavis Gary (Charlize Theron - hottttttt), it is about a middle aged woman experiencing success from her work as a writer for a popular young adult novel but doesn’t feel fulfilled by this success. She returns to her hometown to rekindle her relationship with highschool sweetheart Buddy. However, Buddy is a happily married man with a new status as a dad. The characters in her hometown have all seemed to have grown up and have settled down, living a simple yet utterly fulfilling life, something Mavis doesn’t seem to have despite being the only one to have gotten away from the “hick town” Mercury.
Don’t expect a lot of laughs it is a pretty dark film but is cleverly scripted. Charlize Theron does a remarkable job of portraying the character Mavis. It truly is comedy at its darkest with the worst person in the movie being the most captivating. I haven’t seen a film worth blogging about in ages. AND the cinematography/mise en scene is brilliant. So impressed!
A MUST SEE!! but not for everyone. After all it doesn’t have the happiest ending like Juno.
